The New Service For Reporting Fraud & Cybercrime
On 4th December 2025 the Action Fraud service was replaced by Report Fraud as the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime. This service will analyse reports more effectively and provide better support for victims. Reports can be made to Report Fraud via their online reporting tool https://www.reportfraud.police.uk/ or by calling 0300 123 2040 Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm.
How to report fraud: In most cases, the police officer does not need to complete any reports. Instead, the victim can be asked to self-report on Report Fraud. This includes when the victim has attended a police station. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau will then triage the report and if it meets the criteria for secondary investigation then it will be screened to an investigation team. Please ensure that crime prevention advice is given to all victims of fraud. The MPS publishes detailed advice here – The Little Guide to... preventing fraud and cyber crime | Metropolitan Police
Why is it important – “Every Report Counts” Fraudsters often fund human trafficking and terrorism. Fraudsters cost pensioners over £17m last year. Information strengthens the UK’s cyber crime defences.
